The prepared floodings was a very important part of the Copenhagen fortifications, specially on the northern front<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>There was two floodings prepared for war times. A northerne and a southern. The northern could be activated separately, or borh could be activated together.<\/p>\n

The water for these major floods was taken from the Fures\u00f8en (lake) up north.
\nThis lake was 20 meters above sea level.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>The northern flooding was led east to the \u00d6resund through Lyngby by prepared canals.
\nAt the \u00d6resund it was neccesary to have 7 pools and 8 dams as there was a large terrain difference towards the \u00d6reound.<\/p>\n

the southern flooding was supplied from the northern .
\nThe main target was to flood The Kagsmosen (an existing bog area) to 12 meters above sea level.<\/p>\n

\nThe filling time for both the prepared floodings was calculated to 8 days when 22 m3 per second was added.
\nThe water level in the Fures\u00f8en (lake) would drop 1\u00bd meters if both floodings were activated .<\/p>\n
