The Kongelunds Fort was originally named the Kongelunds Battery.
\nIt was built as a coastal battery in the period 1914-1916. Maybe it was renamed just prior to World War I.<\/p>\n
The battery was armed with four 29 cm howitzers and four 75 mm cannons, There was further two 47 mm quick firing cannons.<\/p>\n
The Howitzers came from the Lynetten Battery in 1915.
\nThe 2 large cannons with a weight of 11 tons each took place on block wagons, pulled by 2 steam rollers. The damage to the roads was quite significant.<\/p>\n
The hubits were mounted on 2 double concrete foundations behind a 4 m high parapet.
\nThe task of the battery was to protect the minefields that were to be laid in tje K\u00f6ge Bay in case og a war.
\nThis should prevent enemy naval forces in operating in these waters.<\/p>\n
In 1938 the fort was rebuilt and got a new main armament, consisting of four 15 cm. cannons.
\nThey came from the coastal defense ship Herluf Trolle, which was discharged from\u00a0 the navy figures in 1932.<\/p>\n
Around the turn of the year 1944-45, eight cannons of the type Skoda 15 cm SK C \/ 28 in affutage K\u00fcst MPL C \/ 36 were sent to Denmark by the Germans. They had no shields due to the common need for steel for fabrication. Four of these cannons were later mounted as the main armament at the Kongelunds Fort.<\/p>\n
1959 The Kongelunds Fort was transformed into a radar site for the NIKE SAM missiles at the Kongelunden.
\n1982 the fort was finally abandoned.<\/p>\n
