<\/b>T<\/span>he <\/span>Taarb\u00e4k Fort was constructed during the years 1913 to 1916.<\/span><\/p>\n

It was a triangular fort with a <\/span>dry moat <\/span>pit and an underground connection to the caponiere <\/span>outside the northern tip.
\nThe fort was designed for a crew of <\/span>250 men.<\/p>\n

It was placed in the forest “Dyrehaven” <\/span>so it could both serve a land- and coastal fort.<\/span> This,<\/span> however,<\/span> was not very appropriate. The purpose of this was to close the defence gap <\/span>in the Northern Front. This gab had been at suject for discussion since the 1890’es.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\n<\/span>The Taatb\u00e4k Fort was supposed to cover <\/span>the coast north of Taarbaek against landing attempt, but could not see the shore because of the cliff above the coast,<\/span> and the<\/span> residential buildings along the coast. Furthermore, it should assist the <\/span>Middelgrunds Fort <\/span>\u00a0to prevent enemy ships from sailing to Copenhagen, but did not have sufficient visibility over the waters.<\/span> To remedy this, a<\/span> 33 meters<\/span> high observation tower was constructed on the top of the fort.
\n<\/span>As a land fort it was supposed to cover <\/span>the Eremitage Field<\/span> and the areas<\/span> north of it, but since the fort <\/span>was hidden behind the <\/span>highest point (<\/span>where the Eremitage P<\/span>alace is situated),<\/span> the <\/span>main part of the forts<\/span> battle area was <\/span>hidden from the fort<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

A weak Coastal Battery<\/h5>\n

The a<\/span>rmament as an coastal battery was generally too weak.
\nThe fort had four 29 cm iron howitzers <\/span>M.1910, with a <\/span>range of 10,300 meters. These were located on top of the <\/span>northeastern rampart of the fort.<\/span>
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

As a land fort<\/span>, it <\/span>had two 120 mm quick firing steel howitzers <\/span>M.1914, with a <\/span>range of 8400 meters mounted in armored turrets.
\nIn addition, six machineguns in three armored turrets, <\/span>three 37 mm Hotchkiss revolving<\/span> cannons <\/span>M.1880 and thirty-four 8 mm machineguns <\/span>M.1903 to in caponieres defend the dry moat and the throat. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

When the fort was scrapped in 1937, it was rebuilt to store mines <\/span>for the Navy.<\/span><\/p>\n

The 29 cm haubits was the same type of haubits <\/span>which can be seen <\/span>at the <\/span>Charlottenlund Fort<\/a> today<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

In 1969 the Taarb\u00e4k Fort was covered of <\/span>300,000 tons of dirt.
\nIn 2012 some people dug into the fort in cooperation with the Danish television Broadcast Company.
